“Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear.” Isaiah 59:1
Sometimes I wonder if I have quit praying for our nation like I should because I know how it all ends. So many chalk up terrorist attacks, our complacency as a nation, and the acts of violence to end times. We know it has to happen before Christ will return, and we just sit back and watch “prophecy” happen.
That is ridiculous. Why wouldn’t I pray even more fervently as I hear tale after tale of horrific happenings? For the enemy, having a mentality of defeat and resignation is the best position for us to be in. We have placed God in this box and don’t consider His majesty and capability to do the unimaginable.
It is a lie. The truth is, God does hear, and He is faithful. Psalm 145:18 says, “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” There is hope for America, and God can deliver our nation. I chose to focus on the truth He has made clear.
“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
-James 5:16
I am righteous only because He died for me and took the death that should have been mine. But, as I do my part in standing up for what is right even when it hurts, He will honor that. When I set myself apart and am different because I love Him and want to obey Him, He notices. My prayers become powerful and effective when my focus in on Him instead of myself.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
-2 Chronicles 7:14
It’s time to quit being afraid as we watch our television sets and see stories scroll through our social media accounts. It is time to get angry, and not allow fear to be our guide. We have to rise up together and ask God for protection, forgiveness and healing for our country. He says He will hear from heaven, forgive and heal our land.
If we struggle to have a bigger faith, we only need to remember how amazing our God is. The stronger we believe Him to be, the more willing we are to depend on Him. Our perception of God is always tied to our amount of faith. Remember Who He is and what He has done.
We won’t live in fear, but with faith that God is sovereign and He loves us.
Amen. AMEN.
